Louise’s Trattoria has announced its upcoming closure in Los Angeles. The Larchmont restaurant is the last remaining location of a chain that began in Santa Monica in 1978.

Louise’s Trattoria Is Closing

Louise’s Trattoria is a family-owned Italian restaurant at 232 N. Larchmont Boulevard. It is known for its traditional Italian American food, fresh pasta, and signature focaccia bread. Unfortunately, it will be closing its doors in Larchmont Village on November 25.

The restaurant announced the news of its upcoming closure on social media, thanking the community for the years of support. The announcement invited customers to visit before the restaurant’s final day of service.

The post reads, “Thanks for the memories, Los Angeles. Come break Focaccia Bread with us one last time. Our final day of service is November 25th – Grazie Mille.”

Louise’s Trattoria opened its first restaurant in Santa Monica in 1978 before adding a Larchmont Village location in 1988. The Larchmont Village location was part of a larger chain that once operated 19 locations, extending from Southern California to Philadelphia.

An unsuccessful East Coast expansion contributed to the chain’s Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing in 1997, according to Los Angeles Times. The company later reorganized and gradually reduced its restaurant count.

Rob and Karen Serritella purchased the remaining restaurants in 2018. After another location closed, the Larchmont restaurant became the last remaining Louise’s Trattoria. The closure of its Larchmont restaurant will bring an end to the chain’s legacy of nearly 50 years.

It serves Italian-American dishes, including pasta, pizza, seafood, small plates, and desserts. The restaurant also provides dine-in, takeout, delivery, and catering services.

Some of its menu highlights include Linguine with Clams, Nonna’s Meatballs, Fettuccine Alfredo, Sea Bass, and Cioppino. Dessert options include freshly made Tiramisu, Italian Lemon Cake, and Chocolate Cake.

End of an Era

The news of the restaurant’s closure prompted disappointment among longtime customers. Some customers call the closure the end of an era, while others expressed their shock.

One customer on Instagram commented, “Sorry to hear this. We fell in love first with the focaccia and then everything else.”

Another customer wrote, “We loved you in Pasadena in Colorado and were lucky over the summer to get back to you in July in Larchmont. We are fans from the Bay Area, thank you!!”

Louise’s Trattoria’s Larchmont closure will mark the end of its long-run in Los Angeles’ dining scene.
