UPDATE (August 6, 2018): Grand Lux Cafe To Open In Phipps Plaza August 7
Plans to open Georgia’s first Grand Lux Cafe are moving forward.
A permit application late last week was filed with City of Atlanta to demo suite 2093 in Phipps Plaza mall for the restaurant concept from parent company The Cheesecake Factory.
Phipps Plaza owner Simon Property Group Inc. in April first announced plans for the Grand Lux Cafe outpost via the “Development Activity Report” section of a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
An estimated $2,769,750 could be spent building out the 10,540-square-foot space, including a covered outdoor area, according to the permit filing.
More permits for the restaurant, which is slated to open mid-2018, are expected to be filed in the coming months.
Grand Lux Cafe will join other soon-to-open restaurants in Phipps Plaza including The Public Kitchen & Bar and Ecco.
Phipps Plaza would not comment on the project.
“It’s Simon’s corporate policy to not comment on any speculated retailer information,” a Phipps Plaza spokesperson Tuesday told What Now Atlanta in an email.

$3 million? What an outrageous waste of money!
Not really into chain restaurants–but this one is spectacular. So glad it’s coming to Atlanta, finally. The environment (decor+food+staff) they create is truly amazing.
