Gekko Sushi and Lounge Quietly Shutters, Could Reopen Under New Owner

The Shumacher Group is working with the landlord for a lease takeover of the Old Fourth Ward Japanese restaurant.

Gekko Sushi and Lounge in Old Fourth Ward quietly closed its doors “this week.”

But the restaurant in the Ponce Springs Lofts building, at 620 Glen Iris Dr NE, could make a comeback.

Steve Josovitz, a business broker with Shumacher Group, is working with the landlord to bring in a new leasee.

The 3,200-square-foot restaurant carries a $10,000 per month rent with a “long term lease,” according to the listing.

A new leasee could keep the Gekko Sushi concept, or convert the space into something new.

  • This is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in Atlanta and it is my go-to spot for great sushi! I am very saddened to hear that it is closing, and I truly hope they will re-open it as soon as possible!!
