Zunzi’s, a Savannah staple since 2005, is expanding to Atlanta with a location in Buckhead.

The South African-inspired sandwich shop will be situated in “Howell Mill,” a collection of storefronts lining Howell Mill Road at its intersection with Collier Road.

Healey Weatherholtz Properties is developing the “mixed-use village.”

The 2,250-square-foot space, at 1971 Howell Mill Road, will be Zunzi’s second location and first outside of Savannah.

The company is targeting an “early December 2017 opening” depending on how “permitting goes,” Chris Smith, co-owner of the sandwich brand, in an email late-Wednesday told What Now Atlanta.

Zunzi’s has publicly been “eyeing” Atlanta for expansion since early 2015.

“We are currently looking at Downtown Decatur, Ponce City Market-area, and Battery Park but do not have any leases signed for our next location at this time,” Smith said.
