Women’s only private network, Chief, is moving forward with plans to open a location in West Hollywood having recently filed a Conditional Use Beverage permit application for the sale of alcohol on the premises. Chief’s mission is to bring women from different industries together to network and empower each other rather than fly solo.

Reps for Chief on Monday were not able to provide an opening timeline update when reached for comment by What Now Los Angeles.

The 14,259-square-foot club, at 714 N La Cienega Boulevard, will offer office space, private dining and meeting rooms, a restaurant and two bars, as well as a 2,135-square-foot outdoor courtyard. There are also plans to offer a fully operational, on-site kitchen with the strategy to partner with a local restaurant or catering company. There will be 179 interior seats and 29 exterior seats on the property. The site is improved with two existing buildings that date back to the 1940s.

The opening of Chief’s Los Angeles location was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following this announcement, the membership took its services, seminars, coaching, and events virtual.

Chief first launched in New York in February of 2019, co-founded by Childers and Lindsay Kaplan. Los Angeles is Chief’s second city with additional plans to open in Chicago later this summer. The founders told CNBC that San Francisco and Boston will be digital locations. The company has over 2,000 members and a waitlist with approximately 7,000 people. To be considered, applicants must be C-level or rising VP with membership costing $5,400 per year.

In May of this year, Chief announced that it was awarded $15 million in funding from investors that include General Catalyst, Inspired Capital, GGV Capital, Primary Venture Partners, Flybridge Capital and BoxGroup, as reported by TechCrunch. The West Hollywood location could compete with nearby West Hollywood club, AllBright, a 2017-founded, women-focused collective with locations in London. AllBright expected a late-summer 2019 opening with meeting rooms, a restaurant and bar, and a salon.
