Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ Moving Forward in The Met

Plans were recently filed with the City of Atlanta to build out the new restaurant in the Carter mixed-use development.

Although Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ will not open in Atlanta before the end of spring 2020 as originally planned, the restaurant is moving forward.

A permit application was recently filed with the City of Atlanta to buildout the South Carolina-style whole-hog barbecue joint in The Met, at 680 Murphy Ave SW.

An estimated $500,000 will be spent on the 4,420-square-foot Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ.

The permit filing is the first major public milestone for the inbound restaurant since The Met Developer Carter announced the plans at the end of 2019.

Its opening is now slated for September 2020.

Scott and his team—including partner Nick Pihakis, former CEO of Jim ‘N Nick’s BBQ—will operate the restaurant at the MET, a 1.1 million-square-foot property adjacent to the West End MARTA station and situated between Murphy Avenue and Metropolitan Parkway.

Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ has two existing locations in Charleston, SC, and in Birmingham, AL.

    • I’ve been by it a few times but never gone. It seems like it should be really cool once it’s fully up and running. Aren’t they turning the old water tower (or whatever it was) into a bar?

      • Yeah, I think the tower is supposed to be a bar or coffee shop.
        A friend of mine was looking for an assemblage artist for a Delta project.
        I went through the directory for The Met and was really impressed with the
        amount creative businesses there!
