Following its launch at Colony Square in January, Cuevacía — the Oaxacan-inspired concept from Spur Hospitality — is joining forthcoming mixed-use development Lulah Hills in Decatur, according to a release.
The restaurant will take over a freestanding, 2,600-square-foot jewel box space at the development, which is expected to open in 2027.
“Lulah Hills represents an exciting new chapter for North Decatur and the surrounding communities. The development brings together a sophisticated yet approachable mix of restaurants and retail with thoughtfully designed, park-like amenities that create an experience all its own,” William Pitts, founder and CEO of Spur Hospitality, said in the release. “We are excited to be part of a larger vision to reinvent such an iconic place and to help create another great local destination for people to dine, shop, gather and spend time together.”
Cuevacía combines Spanish words translating to “empty cave” or “empty tomb,” signifying a story of sacrifice and renewal. The restaurant offers a design inspired by the empty-cave concept and the villages, landscapes and stonework of Oaxaca.
Cuevacía’s Lulah Hills two-story location will reflect the aesthetic of the Colony Square location, featuring meandering hallways, caves, arches and other elements reminiscent of old-world Mexico. The restaurant will include floor-to-ceiling windows, an interior water feature with a cactus garden, a covered patio with fans and heaters and a walk-up to-go window.
The menu features items such as hand-pressed tortillas, house-made moles, Tetelas, Chilaquiles, Tres Leches and Huachinango Oaxaqueño. A mezcal-driven beverage program will complement the menu.
“Will and the entire Cuevacía team have set a new standard in Atlanta for culinary excellence. Their commitment to creating immersive, memorable experiences aligns perfectly with our vision for Lulah Hills and the caliber of retail partners we are bringing together here,” Natalie Abt, senior director of leasing for EDENS, said in the release. “We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Cuevacía to the neighborhood and introduce their exceptional hospitality to the North Decatur community.”
In addition to Cuevacía, other brands including Anthropologie, Design Within Reach, Firepit Pizza Tavern, Foxtail Coffee Co., Herman Miller, Honeysuckle Gelato, LaserAway, Les Mains Nail Bar, L.L.Bean, Marshalls, Publix and Solidcore have committed to leases at Lulah Hills.
Spur Hospitality also announced earlier this year that it has a second location of Saints + Council — another restaurant it operates at Colony Square — on the way to Perimeter Mall.
