After a year of planning, Daily Dose by The Merchant has quietly opened in Reynoldstown. Its first day is Wednesday, July. 29. The coffee shop operated out of a pop-up in Lenox Square from the end of 2018 to 2019.

Run by the same team that owns Read Shop by The Merchant in Vinings, Daily Dose serves Stumptown Coffee and Alon Bakery pastries, as they do in all their locations, along with a book retail section. While Owner Daniel Collier sees Read Shop as a bookstore with coffee, Daily Dose is “a coffee store with books,” he said.

Collier describes the interior design of the store as “masculine,” with its emphasis on black and brass accents shown throughout the walls and tiling. A leather banquette sits on one side of the room and furniture made out of refurbished Georgia pine accents the 1,500-square-foot space, able to seat 16 people.

Construction on the Madison Yards space started in early February and slowed down as a result of the coronavirus. Throughout the process, the team had to cut back on the type of materials they were using to cut costs. However, “the heart of the store is as planned,” Collier said.

“That area, that development, the energy, and the people there, we just think that’s our customer,” Collier said. “We just like that area. We feel like those are our people.”
