A third Doughnut Dollies location will open at 1002 Virginia Avenue NE, and will tentatively open this May, according to reporting by Eater Atlanta. The new bakery will feature outdoor seating and will sell the eatery’s full line of doughnuts alongside coffee and espresso.

Owners and self-proclaimed “doughnut nerds” Anna and Chris Gatti have sold fresh-baked, hand-rolled doughnuts within Atlanta’s metro area since 2015, when their Marietta store at 724 Cherokee St NE opened its doors. A second site debuted in Buckhead at 1963 Howell Mill Rd. in June of 2019.

The bakery is named for Salvation Army volunteers who traveled to France in 1938 to provide front-line soldiers with fresh-baked goods during World War I, ultimately earning the nickname “Doughnut Dollies.” Within this theme, a mural by artist Adam McNeil depicting Rosie the Riveter with a doughnut in hand adorns the facade of the bakery’s Buckhead location.

Along with their year-round mainstays — like the “Dollie,” made with brioche dough, a creme brulee filling and Brulee sugar and the “Cereal Bowl,” topped with cereal and with icing made from cereal milk — the company also has seasonally-changing menu options and holiday specials. Gluten-free doughnuts are on the menu and, for events and parties, the bakers make letter-shaped doughnuts as a fun alternative to icing-inscribed cakes.

Neither Anna nor Chris Gatti could be reached for comment regarding their upcoming location.
