Chef Kathryn Fitzgerald is bringing multiple creative minds together to open her new restaurant in Avondale Estates. Fitzgerald told What Now Atlanta that she hopes to open Last Dance at 124 N. Avondale Rd in May.

Fitzgerald is teaming up with three other chefs to comprise the ownership team: chef Joshua Fryer, chef Patrick Daugherty and pastry chef Chris Marconi.

“I really wanted to build a team of partners that all had a creative influence, and I definitely did not want to do this on my own, as I also have another restaurant in Asheville, North Carolina,” Fitzgerald said.

Fitzgerald’s goal is to bring fresh options to Avondale Estates and give the community a restaurant with unique offerings.

“I feel like we’re giving something to Avondale that they have been wanting, which is more of an upscale, approachable dining environment that also can double as a relaxing, intimate cottage,” Fitzgerald said. “I’m trying to build this environment that’s like an eccentric cottage or farmhouse that’s in the middle of France on New Year’s Eve night — that’s the inspiration. We are just having a lot of fun.”

They will be focusing on farm-to-table items. Signature offerings on the menu include a liver eclair, lamb schnitzel and whole fish. The beverage program will focus on classic cocktails and natural wines.

The team plans to roll out brunch several weeks after opening, featuring homemade bagels from Marconi, English muffin egg sandwiches and smoked fish bagels.

“It’s four chefs just going at it and having fun, talking through dishes and experimenting and really having a blast,” Fitzgerald said. “So the ‘blissful entanglement’ slogan really comes from that.”
