Sozou is opening in Midtown Atlanta next month. The Japanese restaurant will offer an experience that does not focus solely on sushi and omakase. It joins the Ito duo’s lineup of two other concepts, bringing a new experience to the local dining scene.
Sozou is Opening in Midtown Atlanta in August 2026
Midtown Atlanta is welcoming a new Japanese restaurant, Sozou. It is led by husband-and-wife team Chef Fuyuhiko Ito and Chef Lisa Ito. The new restaurant joins the couple’s lineup of restaurants, including ISHIN and Celestia.
The name “Sozou” means “creation” in Japanese. The restaurant combines traditional Japanese techniques with contemporary cooking. It will shift the focus from a single style of Japanese cuisine and build everything around the concept of creation.
Sozou will open at Spring Quarter on August 7, 2026. Spring Quarter is a mixed-use development in Midtown. It includes offices, apartments, retail, and hospitality spaces.

The dining experience at Sozou is not limited to an exclusive technique but offers three ways. At Sozou, guests can choose between omakase, à la carte, and robata. Some signature dishes have been announced ahead of opening. They include wagyu toban yaki with ponzu and tare, black cod miso-yaki, lobster toban yaki with soy brown butter, and branzino with yuzu and ponzu.

Sozou will officially welcome guests beginning August 7 at Spring Quarter. Its contemporary approach to Japanese cuisine is set to make it a culinary destination in Midtown Atlanta.
