OpenTable’s Methodology

To generate this list, OpenTable used over 10 million verified OpenTable diner reviews and dining metrics. The data was taken from September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2025. The restaurants with a minimum threshold of diner reviews were taken.

These restaurants were then evaluated based on a compilation of unique data points. It includes the diner ratings, percentage of five-star reviews, number of alerts set, percentage of advance reservations made, percentage of capacity, and direct searches. While these points helped create the list, it is not ranked in order, but appears from A-Z.

Apart from this, an online survey among 1,527 US respondents was conducted by WALR. Between September 3, 2025, and September 9, 2025, fieldwork was done to accumulate more data. The data was collected while adhering to MRS and ESOMAR guidelines to ensure ethical and accurate data collection.
