Chuy’s, an authentic Tex-Mex restaurant known for its fresh, made-from-scratch dishes, signature ‘ritas, and eclectic design, expanded in its hometown with a 10th location in South Austin on April 22 at 126 E. Ralph Ablanedo Drive, in the Oaks at Slaughter shopping center.
Chuy’s menu is committed to using the best, high-quality ingredients to deliver on its fresh, never frozen promise when serving each guest with popular Tex-Mex classics, like the Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom Enchiladas, sizzling fajitas, the ever-popular Creamy Jalapeño, and fresh tortillas made by hand daily. Chuy’s recipes are inspired by a combination of flavors from New Mexico, Mexican border towns, the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas, and, of course, Austin – where Chuy’s originated.
Chuy’s offers happy hour every Monday through Friday from 3–6 p.m., featuring $5 Chips ‘n’ Dips, like queso, paired with drink specials, like Chuy’s famous ‘ritas made with fresh-squeezed lime juice.
“Austin is where it all started for Chuy’s, and we’re excited to continue growing in the city that made us who we are,” said Josh Offer, General Manager of Chuy’s Oaks at Slaughter in a statement. “Beyond serving great food, we’re proud to start a partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters to support their mission to uplift and empower local youths in our own backyard.”
Guests stepping into the new Austin location will experience the restaurant’s eclectic décor and one of a kind look with its neon signs, colorful vinyl booths, and iconic Mil Pescado – vibrant hand-painted wooden “school” of fish – adorning the ceiling. Each location embraces its local community while keeping close to its Austin roots with fun and quirky artwork.
Chuy’s believes in building community ties through local service and connections. As part of this commitment, the Oaks at Slaughter restaurant has selected Big Brothers Big Sisters as a local nonprofit partner to honor their grand opening and bring awareness to their impactful cause. Big Brothers Big Sisters is dedicated to mentoring and empowering local youth in Central Texas.
Chuy’s Oaks at Slaughter spans 6,648 square feet and features a 48 seated covered patio, offering plenty of space for both indoor and outdoor dining. Curbside to-go is also available for added convenience. The restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
