A new grab-and-go sushi concept plans to reinvent sushi for the next generation. According to public filings, Sushi-Fy plans to open at 3115 S. 1st St., Unit 101A. What Now Austin reached out to owner Crystal Claunch, who confirmed that the opening is targeted for late fall 2026, pending permits.
Sushi-Fy is a woman-owned concept built around Australian-American sushi hand rolls, sushi burritos, and sushi rolls. The concept blends the bold flavors of Asian fusion cuisine with the convenience of fast-casual dining.
“After living in Australia, I wanted to bring their influence, style, and love of sushi home with me with an American twist,” Claunch told What Now Austin.
South First Street has become an increasingly active corridor for new food concepts in Austin, with a growing mix of quick-service and grab-and-go restaurants. For Claunch, opening Sushi-Fy in the area is also an opportunity to become part of the community she is eager to serve.
Sushi-Fy’s grab-and-go format, paired with its Australian-influenced approach to sushi burritos and hand rolls, will bring a different take on sushi to the South First Street area.
Asked whether she plans to expand the concept beyond its first location, Claunch said that’s the ultimate goal, though it will depend on how the South First Street shop performs. Updates on the opening will be shared through the brand’s social channels.
