A new bookstore in Cambridge’s Harvard Square is combining literature with libations, offering visitors a unique space to relax with coffee or wine.
Lovestruck Books, a romance-themed bookstore that opened at 44 Brattle St in December 2024, features a collection of over 10,000 books in its 5,000-square-foot space.
According to a recent Boston.com report, the store is the realization of a long-time dream for owner Rachel Kanter, a former high school English teacher and education nonprofit worker.
In October, Kanter announced that Lovestruck would be elevating its charm with a George Howell Coffee café and a wine bar, saying:
PSA: The only thing better than a good book? A good book and a killer cup of coffee.
That’s why LoveStruck isn’t just your new fave bookstore – we’re also adding a café and bar. Yup, you can now sip on George Howell Coffee, nibble on pastries, or indulge in wine (yes, WINE!) while browsing our unapologetically bold selection of books by women, BIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ authors.
In short, it’s your new happy place in Harvard Square
We can’t wait for our opening!
The café will serve George Howell’s renowned coffee, complemented by a selection of pastries, while the wine bar will offer a curated menu of wines to pair perfectly with the bookstore’s cozy ambiance.
Lovestruck Books is currently open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with shortened hours of 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. In January, hours will temporarily shift to 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. as the café prepares to open by the end of the month.
Once the café launches, Lovestruck will extend its hours to 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday, and 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
