Last month, What Now Boston reported that New York City-based Just Salad was planning to open a new location in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood. Now, the fast-growing restaurant chain is expanding further into Greater Boston.
Just Salad is preparing to launch at 450 Paradise Road, Suite 3 in the Swampscott Mall, according to permits recently filed with the town. While an official opening timeline has not yet been announced, business filings for Just Salad 450 Paradise Road LLC further corroborate the planned location.
Founded by Nick Kenner in 2006, Just Salad has grown from a single salad-focused restaurant into a chain with more than 100 locations across eight states. The brand is celebrated for its fresh, customizable meals designed to make healthy eating convenient, offering salads alongside warm bowls, wraps, soups, toasts, smoothies, and house-made dressings. Just Salad’s menu caters to a range of dietary preferences, with vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, keto, and paleo options available.
Sustainability is a key part of the brand, most notably through its reusable bowl program. Customers can purchase a branded bowl, bring it back on future visits, and receive a free topping as an incentive to cut down on single-use waste. The company says 90% of its packaging is reusable, recyclable, or compostable, and also offers carbon-labeled menu items and “Climatarian” choices for diners looking to make more environmentally conscious selections.
“Just Salad began in 2006 with a simple idea: offer healthy, affordable, climate-conscious meals that are irresistibly delicious,” reads the company website. “We started with just salad… really good salad… Everything we do—from reusable bowls to top-quality ingredients—is designed to make mindful eating convenient, so you can satisfy your cravings without compromising your values.”
Once open, the Swampscott location will join Just Salad’s existing Massachusetts outposts in Boston’s Financial District and Fort Point, Cambridge Crossing, Burlington, Needham Heights, Dedham, and Chestnut Hill, as well as the upcoming Fenway location.
What Now Boston has reached out to the Just Salad team for additional details on the Swampscott location and will share updates as more information becomes available.
