Bodega’s second outpost is slated to open in Mt. Pleasant at 414 Coleman Blvd. by the end of January or early February, according to Keith Benjamin, co-founder of Uptown Hospitality Group.
When asked about why Bodega chose Mt. Pleasant, Benjamin told What Now Charleston, “Location, location, location. Mt. Pleasant felt like the next logical step in terms of growing the brand, and we’ve had our eyes on the old Andolini’s space for quite some time.”
The new Bodega will have the same menu as the original, serving breakfast and lunch “sammies,” specialty toasts, benedicts, bowls, salads, pancakes, an extensive coffee menu and a full bar. The “big and bright” decor will be reminiscent of downtown with familiar graffiti on the walls. There will be an indoor and outdoor bar as well as a recently renovated patio, “a great opportunity for al fresco dining,” as Benjamin puts it.
The new location will have one thing the original doesn’t – a drive-through.
“This will be our first drive-through. With the amount of traffic on Coleman, it’ll be great for commuters on the way downtown to stop for a breakfast sandwich and coffee – or for people traveling the other way towards the beach to grab breakfast.”
As for more locations, “If we see success in Mt. Pleasant, we definitely want to continue to scale the Bodega brand,” Benjamin added.
He also teased another “elevated” bar and restaurant that the group is working on around the corner from Uptown Social in downtown. The yet-to-be-named concept is still around six months out, with an anticipated opening in summer 2024.
Uptown Hospitality owns Share House as well, a coastal cantina that opened last year focused on tropical drinks and beachy bites.
