A new neighborhood dive bar prepares to open in downtown Charleston this spring.

Dive In Food and Spirits, dubbed “Charleston’s new favorite bad decision,” will debut at 525 Meeting St.

“I live here on the east side and there is not really anywhere walkable of any size. I kind of made it to be a local spot, friendly for anybody to come into,” co-owner Fitz Gaines told What Now Charleston.

The space will have a cozy feel with dark forest green and brick accents, complemented by green LEDs beneath the bar. There will also be six TVs for catching any game while sitting on “the most comfortable bar seats in town.”

The team worked with Coughlin Yardwork to landscape and rejuvenate the outdoor space, which will feature a patio for outdoor seating.

The menu will highlight staple bar fare.

“We’ll hand pat all our burgers–eight ounce hand-patted burgers. We’ll also have confit wings, fries, and we’ll cut all our own deli meat for sandwiches,” Gaines said.

The bar program plans to reflect a simple feel.

“We’ll have classic spirits, classic cocktails. It’ll be very simple, clean with squeezed orange juice, squeezed lime juice. We’ll also do little pony beers, buckles of those,” he said.

Gaines looks forward to introducing a new hangout spot to the Charleston community.

An official opening date has not yet been finalized as the team continues working through permitting. Follow Dive In Food and Spirits on Instagram for the latest updates.
