A new spot for authentic Filipino cuisine is coming to North Charleston.

Merlinda “Mae” Walker, owner of Mae’s Famous Asian Food catering and grocery store, recently announced that she will be opening a restaurant, Mae’s Filipino Cuisine.

The eatery will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, featuring a variety of traditional Filipino dishes such as silog, kare kare, and sinigang, as well as breads like pandesal.

“Whether you’re a long-time fan of Filipino cuisine or looking to try something new, our menu has something for everyone,” Walker shared in the update.

Although an exact address was not disclosed, a commenter mentioned that the restaurant would be located “in the plaza next to the Publix on Dorchester/Ashley Phosphate.” What Now Charleston reached out to Walker to confirm the address and other details, but she declined to provide additional information.

Walker launched Mae’s Famous Asian Food in 2022, offering a diverse selection of Asian dishes including lumpia, pancit, and siopao. The store also offers a variety of baked goods and grocery items.
