What Now reported this spring on the planned opening of Cheeky, the “Bolder, Louder, Livelier” restaurant from Neighborhood Dining Group, the company behind concepts like Marbled & Fin and Husk. That opening has come to pass: Cheeky is now open at 151 Meeting St., serving up seafood “inspired by the world’s great coastlines and the places where lunch runs long, martinis arrive ice-cold, and one round has a way of becoming three.”
“We’re trying something a little different, as you see in the name,” Neighborhood Dining Group Founder & CEO David Howard told What Now on Thursday. “It’s a more lighthearted approach. People have responded very well and are really enjoying it. It’s exceeding expectations.”
As Cheeky gets its start, the restaurant is currently serving dinner five days a week. In about two weeks, its hours will expand to all-day, still five days a week—until, once fully up and running in mid-November, the hours expand to all-day, every day.
The Cheeky menu includes a wide variety of choices, with raw choices like Bluefin Toro Sashimi and Snapper Carpaccio, homemade pastas like Lobster Spaghetti, and dinner plates like Miso Yellowtail with honey nut squash, chanterelles, and brown butter.
For Howard, one favorites is the Fritto Misto, bringing together fried calamari, clam strips, shrimp, and scallops. For carnivores, there is also a Half-Chicken Milanese, Grilled Steak, and Linz Heritage Ribeye.
Howard says Neighborhood Dining Group is currently focusing on Cheeky, but the restaurateur did confirm the news that the group already has its next new restaurant in the pipeline. As the Post and Courier reported this week, Neighborhood Dining Group will operate a new restaurant to make its debut at 1434 Ira Road in Mount Pleasant.
The new restaurant’s name and menu are still under development; an opening is expected for Summer 2027.
