Located at 120 Laurens St. SW. in Aiken, Malia’s Restaurant has been a local institution since 1987. The restaurant, currently closed for renovations, underwent a series of changes last year that, according to coverage by the Aiken Standard, led to the purchase of the restaurant by husband-and-wife partners Greg Pierce and Angelia Roberts. Pierce and Roberts, the restaurateurs behind the Feed Sack, are now bringing new life to Malia’s.

“After more than 30 years in business, we remain dedicated to the culinary excitement afforded by the finest, freshest and most ethically produced ingredients,” says the Malia’s website. “We source locally whenever possible, befriending our farmers who are so vital to the kind of dining experience we’re known for. We’re dedicated to our loyal local following who are routinely joined by the international travelers drawn to ‘the good life’ we all enjoy here in Aiken. Malia’s thrives on the friendly faces who, at the end of the experience, say, ‘Wow.’”

According to the Aiken Standard coverage, the couple is reopening Malia’s in coordination with Malia Koelker, who founded the restaurant. The beloved menu (which is expected to reflect favorites from the previous instantiation of Malia’s, with some updates), the same recipes, and some of the former staff will be returning.

“We are going to try to open sometime in November,” Greg Pierce told What Now on Thursday.
