“A major retail transformation is underway along Augusta Highway in Lexington County, with a new Target-anchored shopping center and several other businesses reshaping the corridor near Lexington High School,” said coverage by The State published this summer. “The area is drawing national chains and local favorites alike as the county’s population continues to climb.”
The shopping center in question is Victory Village, a retail center whose buzz has been building in recent months. What Now has already reported on brands like Parker’s Kitchen and Academy Sports + Outdoors, which will be joining Victory Village. To these can be added Dave’s Hot Chicken, the fast-growing California-born Nashville hot chicken franchise.
“Like so many American dreams, ours had a humble beginning,” says the Dave’s Hot Chicken website’s About page. “Three childhood friends in their 20’s who scraped together $900. Our not-so-grand opening was in 2017, in a parking lot in East Hollywood, with a couple of folding tables and a portable fryer under the night sky. But thanks to Instagram, people came. And tasted. And came back with their friends. Then, the buzz brought a reporter from EATER/LA. He took a bite of his first Dave’s Hot Chicken tender, and our world changed. The next day he posted, ‘East Hollywood’s New Late Night Hot Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind.’”
Since then, the brand has grown explosively, expanding to hundreds of locations, including international ones.
A few new items on the menu include the 2 for $22 Bundle (2 sliders, 2 fries, 2 small soft drinks), the Mac Loaded Slider (Your favorite Dave’s slider topped with creamy mac and cheese for the ultimate late night bite), and the Dirt and Worms Top-Loaded Shake (Choose your flavor: Chocolate, Vanilla, or Strawberry).
No opening date has been announced yet for the Victory Village location.
