Book lovers on Hilton Head Island will soon be getting a new favorite spot. Opening at 9 Harbourside Ln, Suite 1A, The Readery will bring books, small bites, charcuterie, high-quality coffee, and a full bar together under one roof.

“We’re about to start construction next week, so we’re looking to open before the end of the year,” owner Reiley Bozeman told What Now on Friday.

Built around a book selection of about 500 titles ranging from fantasy to romance, to thrillers, beach reads, and New York Times bestsellers, The Readery promises a gathering place for book clubs and other readers. Bozeman says it’s something the area has been needing.

“I am a big reader,” Bozeman said. “I’ve always read, for my whole life, and I’ve lived here my whole life. And sometimes it feels like we don’t have anything to do! We have some bars, and I love them—although, of course, once you’ve worked there, that kind of takes it away from you.”

On the menu, you’ll find (in addition to the full bar) breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, charcuterie, and a full coffee program with everything from espresso drinks to nitro cold brew. The space, which will feature more than 40 seats, will also include a large table for book clubs and other groups to gather.

“I wanted to make a place for myself, for my friends, for people my age, for anybody. A place where you don’t have to go listen to loud music; you can have a drink and read, mingle with friends, get a bite of food. It’s something quiet and relaxing.”

The Readery will be opening from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
