Dilworth Neighborhood Grille announced in a recent Instagram post that it is heading to Baxter Village in Fort Mill for a second location.

Owner Matt Wohlfarth told What Now Charlotte that he has been looking for a new spot for a while, and the Baxter Village location was a good fit for both the brand and his own life.

“I feel like this was a no-brainer,” Wohlfarth said. “We’ve been looking for over a year and this location in Baxter Village was particularly cool because I live [near] there. I can literally walk to work.”

The space, which is about 4,500 square feet, will offer a two-story space with the capability for a similar bar setup to the Charlotte location — an element that is important to Wohlfarth. Like the other spot, the Fort Mill location will feature an indoor-outdoor 360-degree bar. There will also be a patio area and a bright atmosphere. The new location will be a downsized version of the other Dilworth Neighborhood Grille, which Wohlfarth liked.

“It’s going to be easier to operate than having two full floors like at the Charlotte store,” Wohlfarth said. “It’s a lot smaller. It will be so much easier to manage.”

Wohlfarth was also searching for a spot that would serve the to-go side of their business well. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, their to-go business has boomed, and Wohlfarth plans to carry that element over to the new location. As in Charlotte, food will be available for order until 2 a.m.

“One of the keys to our success is the to-go business. I wanted to get far enough away so that our delivery circles wouldn’t intersect. This [spot] has a great delivery radius,” Wohlfarth said. “The to-go business should be a very large part of our success, just as it is in Charlotte. If you come in on a Monday night, there’s a line out the door of DoorDash drivers. So I’m pretty excited about that.”

Dilworth Neighborhood Grille opened in 2004 in Charlotte, and Wohlfarth has been on a long journey to get to where he is now.

“Now I feel like I have all this knowledge and experience. I’ve made all the mistakes. I should use it,” he said.

He is hoping to open the Baxter Village location by the beginning of August so he and the team can get the business up and running before football season rolls around.

“[I’m looking forward to] meeting all those new people — the employees and the guests,” Wohlfarth said. “It’s funny because I’ve lived in the neighborhood for 23 years, and I don’t know many of my neighbors because I’m always at work. It should be a place I can really enjoy.”
