Finders Coffee is preparing to open at 1617 South Tryon Street in Charlotte’s South End, owner Haegon Kim told WhatNow.
The new location is targeting a soft opening in mid-July, with a grand opening planned for mid-August, though those timelines could shift as the project moves through final preparations.
The concept is built around a back-to-basics philosophy, centered on classic espresso drinks, matcha, and other simple, high-quality café staples. “We try to focus on more basics,” Kim said, adding that the concept was influenced by his travels and an appreciation for simple, high-quality ingredients.
That approach extends to the food menu, which will feature a four-ingredient cheesecake made with cream cheese, heavy cream, eggs, and sugar, designed to highlight each component. “You can literally taste each ingredient,” Kim said.
The cheesecake lineup is expected to include multiple flavors, including a classic option alongside varieties such as strawberry, double chocolate, and cookies and cream.
The concept also reflects a European-style approach to coffee and café culture, shaped in part by Kim’s appreciation for how high-quality flavor can come from simple, well-executed ingredients.
The space will offer both indoor and outdoor seating, creating a relaxed environment aligned with the concept’s straightforward, quality-focused vision.
Additional details, including a finalized opening date, will be announced closer to launch.
