Karak House Coffee is preparing to open a new location in Uptown Charlotte at 220 N. Pine Street, with a target opening of August 2026, franchise owner Lythe Elhulu told WhatNow Charlotte in a recent interview.

Elhulu, who was born and raised in Charlotte, said the project carries personal significance as he introduces the internationally inspired café concept to his hometown.

“The community can expect a coffee experience that feels both new and memorable,” Elhulu told WhatNow Charlotte. “Karak House blends bold Middle Eastern flavors with a modern café atmosphere, from our signature karak tea to specialty coffees and a menu that really stands out.”

Elhulu emphasized a focus on atmosphere, positioning the space as one where guests can meet, work, and spend time in a setting that feels energetic and welcoming.

“What drew me to this opportunity was how unique the concept is, especially in this market,” he told WhatNow Charlotte. “I saw a chance to introduce something authentic to Charlotte while building a space that feels local, welcoming, and worth coming back to.”

Karak House Coffee co-founder Rohail Malik also spoke with WhatNow Charlotte, offering insight into the brand’s broader expansion strategy and hands-on franchise model.

While the company operates through franchising, Malik said the corporate team remains closely involved with each location.

“We’re very involved in every location to make sure customers are getting the highest quality products, service, and overall experience,” Malik told WhatNow Charlotte.

He added that Charlotte stood out as a strategic expansion market due to its cultural diversity and demand for globally inspired café offerings.

“Charlotte is a very diverse city, and there’s a real need for spaces where people can gather, stay late, and enjoy flavors that remind them of home,” he told WhatNow Charlotte. “We incorporate ingredients like cardamom, rose, pistachio, and saffron across our drinks and desserts, and we know there’s an audience for that here.”

The opening will mark another step in the brand’s growth strategy as it expands into markets with strong multicultural communities.
