2nd & Charles is coming to Carolina Pavilion at 9567 South Boulevard in Charlotte, taking part of the former Conn’s HomePlus space. Scott Kappler, Executive Vice President of operations for Books-A-Million, the parent company of 2nd & Charles, confirmed the location to WhatNow Charlotte, and said the store is targeting an early spring 2027 opening.
According to CBJ Newsroom’s Instagram post, Carolina Pavilion is reworking the former Conn’s HomePlus space as part of an effort to strengthen the shopping center’s tenant mix. The post noted that the more than 700,000-square-foot retail complex is adapting its anchor space to meet retailer demand and improve its overall merchandising strategy.
According to 2nd & Charles’ company website, the retailer buys, sells and trades books, movies, music, video games and collectibles. Its stores combine new and pre-owned merchandise, giving customers opportunities to browse across several entertainment categories in one place.
The company’s buy-sell-trade model also allows customers to bring eligible merchandise to a store for evaluation. According to 2nd & Charles, accepted items may qualify for cash or store credit, depending on the merchandise and applicable store policies.
For Carolina Pavilion, the lease is part of a broader effort to make better use of the former anchor space, as reported by CBJ Newsroom. The specific opening date for 2nd & Charles has not yet been announced.
