Bob’s Discount Furniture is continuing its expansion efforts across the Charlotte metro area, with plans to open a new showroom in Hickory moving along, the brand confirmed to What Now. A location at 1835 Catawba Valley Blvd in Hickory has a planned opening for the upcoming winter, and hiring efforts have already commenced.

The company, which has focused growth efforts going on in several states, posted a job listing on its website this week for a Retail Sales Supervisor position for the new location, indicating preparations are underway.

In the posting, Bob’s is described as having a “low-pressure, honest, gimmick-free” sales environment with many opportunities for career advancement and leadership development. A brand representative told What Now they expect to add 20 jobs to the local community with the addition of the 30,000-square-foot business.

Looking further into neighboring communities, several more Bob’s Discount Furniture outlets have recently opened, or are in the works. WCNC reports the company debuted locations in University City – the first in the area – and one in Pineville, in the last two months. Another store is also planned for Matthews, opening this fall.

Founded in 1991, the retailer has grown to operate more than 200 units in 26 states. It specializes in value-priced furnishings, selling living room, bedroom, dining room, home office, and youth furniture, along with mattresses, home décor, rugs, lighting, and accessories.

Customers can expect perks while they are shopping for sofas and such: inside will be a Bob’s Café, offering complimentary snacks. A standard amenity in Bob’s stores, it will be stocked with sweet snacks, ice cream, and hot drinks.
