Alexander’s Restaurant, the Edgewater staple that has been in operation for more than 60 years, will open an outpost in the space that housed Jeri’s Grill until last year. The Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce made the announcement earlier this month, writing across social media channels, “It was a tough one when Jeri’s Grill closed last year. We’re super excited that Alexander’s a longtime Andersonville staple, will be opening a second location at 4357 N. Western Avenue!”

Eater Chicago reports the DiPiero family, who operated Jeri’s and continue to own the N. Western Ave. building, invited Alexander’s owners to take over the space.

Alexander’s Restaurant is a family-run establishment, currently helmed by Henry Mizhquiri, his father Luis, and his siblings Diana and Erik. Luis Mizhquiri, who has worked in the Alexander’s kitchen since the 1980s, purchased the restaurant with his family in 2019. The second location of the beloved restaurant will offer a menu like the original, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

An opening date for the diner has not been announced, and the site at the corner of Western and Montrose is currently undergoing substantial renovations. Henry Mizhquiri told Eater Chicago the team is aiming for a spring opening, although much will depend on pandemic-related equipment delays.
