Beef Shack, who recently re-entered St. Charles after three years of absence, is planning even more suburban locations throughout the area.

After closing its doors in 2020, Beef Shack announced it would return to St. Charles at 2015 W. Main Street, with another site coming to Oswego, at 3433 Orchard Road. While the latter won’t open until July, the former recently held its soft opening and plans a grand opening at the end of the month, according to the Daily Herald. This is just the beginning for the company, as Beef Shack is also planning to open more locations in Glen Ellyn and North Aurora by the end of this year.

Beef Shack expects to build five more Beef Shacks in Illinois in 2024. When the new St. Charles location opens in the former home of TitleMax, it will be the fifth Beef Shack location, following sites in Huntley, Bartlett, and two in Elgin. Once the company re-establishes itself in its home state, CEO Dan Perillo hopes to expand the franchise into other states. These new restaurants will likely feature the company’s newly designed drive-through concept that now accounts for 65% of the restaurant’s sales so far, according to the Daily Harald.

The company, which takes pride in its Cheesy Beef, was founded in St. Charles in 2011 at 2115 W. Main St. This location was eventually replaced by a Chump’s Shrimp Shack. Owners purchased the new site at the beginning of 2022 and renovated it to include a two-lane drive-through and outdoor dining area. All locations hope to win over its customers with its award-winning roast beef, The Cheezy Beef, featuring mozzarella and provolone cheeses with some hot or sweet peppers on a garlic bread bun.
