A new restaurant is coming to 214 W. Erie Street, according to a permit application filed with the City of Chicago. The permit, which was issued on January 13th, is for the “first-time build out of existing mercantile space into new restaurant, including dining, kitchen, and services spaces.” The owner listed on the application is Chef Douglas Psaltis
Chef Psaltis declined to comment on the restaurant just yet, so we don’t have the scoop on when or what kind of eatery we can expect to emerge from the space.
That said, we call tell you 214 W. Erie is in the heart of River North and neighbors other eateries like Union Sushi + Barbeque Bar, The Franklin Room, and Cocoro.
After parting ways with Lettuce Entertain You in 2019, Chef Psaltis opened Andros Taverna in 2021, a modern Greek restaurant that debuted in Logan Square. Together with Hsing Chen, the esteemed pastry chef to whom he is married, Psaltis launched DPHCreative, a consultancy firm. Psaltis has also been a partner at several venerable Chicago establishments, including RPM Restaurant Group, Pizzeria Portofino, Ramen San, Sushi San, Bub City, Joe’s Live, Three Dots and a Dash Tiki Bar, and Bar Ramone.
