A brand new brewery called Demo Brewing Company is making its debut in Chicago’s malt row in Ravenswood, located at 1761 W Berteau Ave.
This is the newest venture from Headroom Brewing Company, with co-owners Jeff Borders and Lucas Irvine in charge of operations. The new microbrewery and taproom will move into a vacant building in Fall 2022, possibly September 1st, according to the company’s Google listing. At the beginning of the July, the owners gave an update on social media regarding the opening, recently adding more concrete, cutting, and plumbing in preparation for the city’s first inspection.
The new microbrewery will be moving into one of the most diverse and prolific independent craft beverage communities in Chicago, featuring more than ten breweries and distilleries. A few nearby businesses include Begyle Brewing, Dovetail Brewing, Empirical Brewery, Half Acre Brewing, Spiteful Brewing, KOVAL, Chicago’s first (legal) post-prohibition distillery, and VIN312 Winery. To stay connected with other small businesses, the neighborhood has developed various programs, events, and campaigns in hopes of uniting the area.
“Ravenswood Industrial Corridor and the surrounding area have earned a reputation as “Chicago’s most diverse beer destination,” according to the Ravenswood website. “To highlight the brewers and distillers along Malt Row, the Greater Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce coordinates annual events such as Ravenswood on Tap and Taste of Ravenswood. Each event has various volunteer needs, sponsorship, and advertising opportunities.”
