Fish Bar Lakeview, the neighborhood restaurant that has been a local staple for nearly a decade, is opening a new location in Old Town at 1529 North Wells St.

The company’s second location will move into the former home of Wild Taco at an unknown time, according to a recent job posting. This is the latest project from DMK Restaurants, led by David Morton, who launched the company with Michael Kornick in 2009. While Kornick is no longer with the company, his menu has helped the restaurant be nominated by the James Beard Foundation five times. The restaurant group is responsible for several other restaurants in the area, including The Exchange, Assembly, DMK Burger Bar, and more.

When the new location opens, customers can expect a variety of fish classics with a focus on New England and New Orleans. Some items on the menu include oyster po’boy, Maine lobster rolls, gumbo, octopus a la plancha, and s’mores. The original restaurant in Lakeview features an outdoor patio for some of the area’s best alfresco dining.

If the menu wasn’t enough to draw customers in, Fash Bar was proudly featured on the Food Network’s Sandwich King for its crabby patty and actively supports charities focused on clean water and sustainable fishing. No matter why you visit this restaurant, know that this will be some of the freshest seafood you can get in Chicago, being 736 miles from the sea.
