Irish beer giant Guinness is opening a brewery and taproom in the vacant Pennsylvania Railroad Terminal building at 375 North Morgan Street in Fulton Market District. The new taproom will be Guinness’ second in the U.S.

The taproom project came about through a deal between Guinness and Chicago developer Fred Latsko, head of real estate firm Latsko Interests, a report by Crain’s Chicago said. Latsko has owned the land since 2012. Guinness’ parent company, London-based Diagio, had been looking for space in Chicago for some time, according to Eater Chicago.

The 15,000-square-foot space will include a full-service restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating and will produce some exclusive beers at the location, the Eater article said. Its menu will offer a blend of Irish pub fare and Chicago eats, and will be more extensive than the food program of its sister taproom in Baltimore.

The taproom is slated to open by spring 2023, ideally in time for St. Patrick’s Day, according to Eater.
