A longtime favorite Thai restaurant in Chicago closed its doors this month. Dao Thai Restaurant and Noodle Palace announced the closure with a notice posted on its door. Its sister restaurant, Tiparos Thai Cuisine & Sushi Bar, will remain open in Chicago.
Dao Thai Restaurant Permanently Shuts Down
Dao Thai Restaurant operated at 230 E Ohio Street in Chicago, Illinois. The restaurant served authentic Thai curries, noodle bowls, and hot soups.
After serving the community for 37 years, the restaurant permanently closed its doors. On August 24, a Reddit user shared the closure announcement of the restaurant. The restaurant team posted an official closure notice on its restaurant door.
In the notice, the team thanked the community and said, “We are deeply grateful to our loyal customers, friends, and community for your support and for the many memories we have shared.”
In the official announcement, the team did not share any specific details about the closure.
Sister Location Remains Open
While the Dao Thai location is now closed, customers and community members can enjoy similar hospitality and flavors at its sister restaurant. Located at 1540 N Clark Street in Chicago, Tiparos Thai Cuisine & Sushi Bar will remain open and serve the Chicago community.
The team confirmed, “At Tiparos, you can enjoy authentic Thai classics made with fresh ingredients, along with an expanded selection of sushi—all served in a warm, welcoming setting.”
The sudden closure announcement of the restaurant has left the community and its fans shocked. Several fans expressed their disappointment in the Reddit thread. One customer wrote, “Used to visit my uncle in Streeterville as a kid and visited all the time, that’s sad!”
Although Dao Thai has bid farewell, the restaurant team looks forward to hosting and serving its customers at its sister restaurant.
