Since August 2016, friends and Co-Owners Frank Paolucci and Jim Gritsonis have operated Firehouse Dogs at 1820 W. Irving Park Road in Schaumburg. Ranked Best Dogs in the State in 2018 by Travel and Leisure Magazine, the hotdog joint, named for Paolucci’s occupation as a fire engineer with the Chicago Fire Department, has gathered a large following, one deeply saddened to learn Firehouse Dogs has officially closed down on Irving Park Road.

All is not lost. When Firehouse Dogs announced over social media on October 25th that their current location would close down, the eatery added, “The good news is that we have an offer pending.” Ownership will remain the same and the eatery expects to reopen, if all goes as planned, in January 2022. The new location has not been disclosed.

Firehouse Dogs’ last day on Irving Park Road was November 7th. A power outage prevented the eatery from remaining open all day. A final post from the space shared a poster with a note from the owners that reads, “We will miss everyone. Love this community. Your Friends at Firehouse Dogs Jim and Frank.”

Firehouse Dogs serves up dogs (Chicago-style, Grilled Polish Maxwell Street-style, and Chili Cheese) as well as burgers, sandwiches, and salads. It’s safe to say we’re all looking forward to this reopening.
