A new shopping center featuring a cafe concept is coming this summer.
According to a recent article from NBC 5 Chicago, the new restaurant will be called The Lago Room and will be a 40-seat “European-style” cafe. It will open at the new proposed Plaza del Lago shopping center in Wilmette and serve cocktails. It is to open in August this year. Right now there is not a set address.
The project is being introduced by Space 519, which also owns The Lunchroom restaurant and cafe at 200 E Chestnut Street near Magnificent Mile. There will also be another The Lunchroom location at Plaza del Lago, along with The Lunchbox, which has coffees, baked goods and grab-and-go items.
“The expansive 6,000-square-foot store will feature a carefully selected range of fashion, beauty and home collections, alongside three food concepts,” says the description on their website.
The Lunchroom has daily specials, serving breakfast and lunch items like breakfast sandwiches, eggs, avocado toast, baja beach tacos, flatbreads, salads, as well as cocktails. The menu for The Lago room is not known right now.
Plaza del Lago is listed as being at 1515 Sheridan Road in Wilmette. It is being planned by WS Development, which has signed 13 leases for retail/restaurant uses. There will be a grand opening following the shopping center being finished.
