Something healthy is coming to a storefront in the northwest neighborhood.

From a Canvas Real Estate post, a new restaurant called Bad Elephant is in the works for 1732 W Division Street. This comes from Wild Thing Restaurant Group, which currently operates Spirit Elephant in Winnetka. The group is looking to debut the concept sometime early next year.

Wild Thing Restaurant Group opened Spirit Elephant in January 2020 in downtown Winnetka at 924 Green Bay Road. The team prepares mains like steak marsala with parmesan scalloped potatoes, pad thai with tofu and lasagna florentine with veggie-based beef. Many of their dishes have vegetarian and vegan friendly options.

“Our goal has always been to push boundaries and eliminate the compromise between incredible flavor and conscious eating so that one day, plant-based cuisine will become the norm. With Bad Elephant, we are taking everything our guests love about Spirit Elephant, and bringing a fun, new bold energy to the table,” said Co-Founder CD Young in a press release.

A menu is not being revealed yet, but like Spirit Elephant, those dining at the restaurant can expect many plant-based items. One of the main draws will be pizzas designed to rival others in the city. Alcoholic beverages like cocktails are also going to be served.

The storefront is on the north side of W Division Street, at the same building as Tous les Jours Bakery Cafe. This is between Foxtrot Market cafe and Zakopane bar. The Division CTA Blue Line stop and West Town’s center are just a few blocks east.

More information on Bad Elephant will be released on their website in the near future.
