Piccolo Buco, the Neapolitan pizza concept from Cooper’s Hawk, is getting ready to open a new location in Schaumburg at 1200 N. Meacham Rd.

Following the company’s debut in Oak Brook, Piccolo Buco is looking to open its second location in the former home of Macy’s Furniture Gallery at the northwest corner of Golf and Meacham Roads, according to the Daily Herald. The restaurant will join five other eateries replacing the store, including Lazy Dog, Velvet Taco, Naansense, Crisp & Green, and Cava. Demolition for the 7.5-acre site began this month, and all the restaurants are expected to open sometime in Spring 2024.

While Cooper’s Hawk has been around since 2005, CEO and founder Tim McEnery opened the new Piccolo Buco concept last year. He fell in love with Rome’s famed Piccolo Buco pizzeria on a trip to Italy and was determined to bring it to guests and Wine Club Members in the area in collaboration with Chef Luca Issa. It didn’t take long before Oak Brook was blessed with Chef Luca’s unique pie, which features a tall, crown-like crust that is crisp on the outside and soft and airy on the inside.

“Liz and I researched the best pizza in Italy, and Piccolo Buco was at the top of our list to visit,” McEnery says on the restaurant’s website. “It’s a charming spot just steps away from the Trevi Fountain in Rome. I was blown away by the presentation and the taste. It was beautifully crafted with fresh, simple ingredients and looked nothing like any pizza I had ever seen. This is Chef Luca’s pizza recipe he’s perfected over many years. It’s truly an honor to share it.”
