If you’ve been jonesing to try Big Chicken, the fast-casual concept from NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal, you’ll be pleased to learn the Midwest’s very first location will open in Rosemont, Il in fall 2022. Big Chicken is slated for 9421 W. Higgins Road, according to a press release from earlier this week, which means the growing brand will share the Rosemont building with Small Cheval and Stan’s Donuts & Coffee.

“We are so excited to welcome Big Chicken’s first Midwest location this fall and introduce its delicious chicken sandwiches to Rosemont’s residents and visitors alike,” Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens said in the release. “The 2,610-square-foot venue will join Stan’s Donuts and Small Cheval as we welcome the next generation of quick casual restaurants to Rosemont this fall.”

Big Chicken brings a menu that fuses home-cooked childhood favorites with bold new flavors. Shaq founded the company in 2018, and it recently began franchising earlier this year with growth as the goal.

With two locations already open in Las Vegas and Glendale, CA, Big Chicken’s signature dishes are Lucille’s Mac ‘n’ Cheese, boasting a crispy Cheez-It crust, crispy chicken sandwiches with names like M.D.E. and Shaq Attack, sliders, and chicken tenders. Salads, sides, and ice cream sandwiches are also at the top of the menu. Did we mention the draft beer, cocktails, and boozy shakes?
