According to an article from Block Club Chicago, Small Cheval could be taking over the former space of The Freeze at 2815 W Armitage Avenue.

A representative of Small Cheval was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now Chicago’s request.

According to the article, “News was abuzz Friday morning that Hogsalt, the hospitality team behind popular fast-casual burger and milkshake joint Small Cheval, plans to revamp The Freeze, 2815 W. Armitage Ave., which closed last year after getting sold to new owners. The project is scheduled to be completed this year, but an exact timeline was not noted.”

“The details come from concept designs posted to Logan Square architect firm Via Chicago’s website. That web page was taken down after it was shared in numerous social media posts and a Block Club reporter reached out for more information. Company officials declined to comment.”

“The designs show The Freeze renovated into a Small Cheval. Unlike past years, it would be open year-round and have an expanded kitchen and patio to offer more food items, according to the now-deleted page.”

“The burger joint has outposts in Hyde Park, Gold Coast, Fulton Market, Wrigleyville, Old Town, and Wicker Park, the latter of which is temporarily closed for remodeling, according to the company website.”

“Small Cheval serves burgers, fries, and milkshakes. It’s unclear if ice cream will be part of the Logan Square menu, though design renderings of the space show menu signs for soft serve.”
