A new Southeast Asian cuisine restaurant is coming to the River North neighborhood this summer.
Thai Dang, owner of HaiSous Vietnamese Kitchen, is opening his new concept called Crying Tiger this summer at 51 W Hubbard Street in River North. He has been the owner of HaiSous since 2016 and has been involved in the Chicago culinary scene for a while.
There is no opening date as of yet, and on the restaurant website and social media the business is listed as “coming soon.” There will be traditional Southeast Asian dishes served, but there has not been a menu released.
The restaurant is part of Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants, which operates dozens of locations around the country. Many of the company’s restaurants are in Chicago’s River North neighborhood, such as Beatrix, Ema, Gus’ Sip & Dip and Ivy Room. Dang is a partner of Lettuce Entertain You.
“Crying Tiger will be designed in collaboration with award-winning interior architecture practice David Collins Studio,” Lettuce Entertain You said in an announcement on their website. David Collins Studio, based in London, England, has also designed Tre Dita Italian restaurant at the St. Regis Chicago.
The restaurant will be replacing Hub 51, which closed in June of last year. When contacted, Lettuce Entertain You confirmed the restaurant is opening without a confirmed date.
