The City of Chicago has issued a building permit for the buildout of a new Starbucks location at 9438 S. Ashland Avenue. The Glazier Corporation is listed as the owner of the site, which sits at the corner of Ashland and W. 95th St.

According to Chicago YIMBY, the Brainerd neighborhood site will house a single-story coffee shop at the southeast corner of a large parking lot. The venue will come with a patio, parking lot, and masonry trash enclosure and will replace a closed gas station. Neighboring establishments include It’s Time, Taco Bell, and Jewel-Osco.

Interior work listed on the permit, which was issued just yesterday, are for partitions, equipment, and finishes.

The prolific brand opened its first Windy City location in 1987 outside of the Pacific Northwest. According to an Eater Chicago article from 2019, the locations in Chicagoland numbered 796 at the time.

We reached out to a representative from the company for comment but had not heard back at the time of publication, so the opening timeline for the Ashland Avenue coffee shop currently remains unclear.
