According to an article from Block Club Chicago, Middle Brow Bungalow and The Beer Temple will soon team up at 3173 N Elston Avenue.

For Middle Brow: “We make our own beer, wine, pizza dough, and bread entirely from sources in Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin. Given that our beverage program is over 95% made, by us, from produce and other earth’m within 150 miles of home, our menu is likely more “local” than any other restaurant in the country.”

“We make wine from grapes that are raised up and down west Michigan. These grapes tend to be mixed varietals—aka hybrids—of both French and American descent. The cold hardiness and disease resistance that derive from the mixed nature of these varietals represent the future of sustainable American winemaking.”

“Centered in the upper midwest. … ‘haps the French and Americans get along more fab than the aughts would have suggested! All of our grapes are dry-farmed and hand-picked. Since we started making wine in 2019, our high-volume purchases have reduced risk sufficiently for three small, Michigan farmers to begin the process of converting to organic and/or biodynamic practices.”

For The Beer Temple: “The Beer Temple started as a craft beer store founded by Chris and Margaret Quinn in 2013. We recently opened our taproom expansion in 2017, to offer a unique selection of draft beers from around the world and share our passion with our patrons. Providing beer education is a core mission of The Beer Temple.”

Let’s circle back to the Block Club Chicago article. What does this mean for the two concepts? “The bar and bottle shop at 3173 N. Elston Ave. will soon serve Detroit-style pizza from acclaimed Logan Square restaurant and brewery Middle Brow Bungalow, famous for its hand-crafted pizzas, brews, and wine,” according to Block Club Chicago.

“Final touches are still in the works, but the pizza will be made in-house at The Beer Temple’s bar and available within a few weeks. The Beer Temple’s pizza menu will have a few red-sauce pizza options such as cheese, pepper, sausage, and a veggie pie, with at least one non-red sauce option. Rotating specials will also be on the menu, as well as salads and other sides.”
