The company that serves unique combos for soft and hard shell tacos is bringing a new location to the city.
A liquor license application was recently submitted for Velvet Taco at 1482 N Milwaukee Avenue. The taco spot is replacing the former Kizuki Ramen & Izakaya restaurant. An official opening date has not been announced by the company.
Velvet Taco already has three locations in city limits, 1110 N State Street, 910 W Randolph Street and 2309 N Lincoln Avenue. Menus vary by location, with choices of beef, chicken, pork, seafood and veggie tacos. Queso blanco is a popular side, as well as the crisp tots and sunny egg.
The fourth Chicago location will be at the corner of N Milwaukee Avenue and N Honore Street. This is next to Cava and across the street from Tropical Juice Cafe. The neighborhood’s center and the Damen Blue Line CTA station are also close.
Velvet Taco has over 50 restaurants around the U.S., and this would be their newest expansion for Illinois. The company does not franchise, and the company recently named Voodoo Doughnuts chief Chris Schultz as their new CEO.
What Now Chicago has reached out to representatives from Velvet Taco, and this article may be updated.
