Chicago shoppers have a new destination for secondhand finds starting today. Savers is expanding its reach in Chicago with the opening of its newest store at 2928 N. Ashland Avenue in the Lakeview neighborhood.

Savers Opens New Store in Chicago’s Lakeview

A secondhand retailer, Savers is opening its newest Chicago location today. The Lakeview store will offer a wide selection of pre-owned merchandise and celebrate its opening with a donation to the American Red Cross. This marks the company’s ninth location in the Chicago area.

The new store supports Savers’ mission of promoting reuse and sustainable shopping. Customers can also donate goods at the location. The store will carry thousands of secondhand items, including clothing, accessories, housewares, books, and more.

The store occupies a more than 16,000-square-foot space adjacent to Jewel-Osco. It offers easy access for shoppers in the city and an organized shopping experience.

“Our mission is to champion reuse and inspire a future where secondhand is second nature,” said Brandy Mendez, Store Manager of the Savers Chicago location. “We can’t wait for the community to experience the excitement of thrifting at our new store and make a positive impact together.”

Impact on the Community

Savers’ new location offers residents access to thousands of low-cost, secondhand items. According to the company, its operations have helped divert billions of pounds of reusable goods from landfills. The store gives the community a local place to donate unwanted clothing and household items. The opening also creates retail employment opportunities in the area.

Donated items will help generate funding for the American Red Cross through Savers’ longstanding partnership with the organization. It will support its mission to prevent and alleviate suffering in the face of emergencies through volunteer efforts and donor generosity. The store will celebrate its opening by donating $5,000 to the American Red Cross.

The new Savers store expands affordable shopping options for Chicago residents.
