The national chain could be moving into an area with high foot traffic.
Word has spread online that a new Gap store could be coming to 20 S State Street, per a recent city permit filing. This is in the heart of The Loop, at the former Urban Outfitters location. The company has not yet made an announcement or revealed an opening date.
Gap already has three locations in the city, one downtown, another in Lakeview and then in Logan Square. Stores are known for men’s and women’s clothing with popular options being jeans, tops and jackets. The company also owns Old Navy and Banana Republic, so there is a possibility it could be either of these stores as well.
The space is on the west side of N State Street, in between Foot Locker and Five Below. A Target is across the street, as well as the historic Sullivan Center. This is a short walk from the Washington/Wabash CTA station.
Right now, there is no comment from Gap on the new location. This article will be updated if there is more information on the new store in the near future.
