A desirable storefront in Magnificent Mile has been snatched up by a successful retailer.
It is being reported Lululemon is coming to the base of the Tribune Tower at 435 N Michigan Avenue. This will be their closest location to downtown, in an area of the city with high foot traffic. Right now, the company is anticipating a spring 2027 opening date.
Lululemon has six locations in city limits, with the furthest out being at the Fashion Outlets of Chicago near O’Hare. The company was founded in 1998 in Vancouver, Canada, and has since expanded to 482 locations in the United States. Illinois is one of the company’s busier markets.
At any store across the country, shoppers can find athletic wear, fleece items, puffer jackets and travel accessories. Options are available for both women and men, with other accessories including knit beanies, sling bags and a dual pouch whistle wallet. This new space will be 47,000 square feet, and is set to be one of their larger locations.
Many Chicagoans and even visitors know where the Tribune Tower is, at the intersection of E Illinois Street and N Michigan Avenue. Other retailers including COACH are nearby on Illinois Street. The Shops at North Bridge is on the northwest side of the intersection.
What Now Chicago has reached out to the Lululemon team and is awaiting comment.
