A family is expanding from a cafe to a full restaurant this year.
A new breakfast, brunch and dinner restaurant called The Wooster Marquette is coming to downtown’s main drag at 127 W Liberty Street. The spot is being opened by the owners of MARR’s Cafe at the University of Akron Wayne Branch. Co-owner Rachel Middleton told What Now Columbus she and her husband, Michael, hope to debut the restaurant sometime in June.
Following their cafe run at the Lodi Outlet Mall in 2021, Rachel and Michael operated at Local Roots Market and Cafe, due to pandemic effects. They quickly outgrew the space, and in 2024 found their own cafe space at the University of Akron Wayne Branch. The two will continue to operate the cafe at the campus, and The Wooster Marquette is their newest venture.
“This will be a French inspired brunch, lunch and dinner place. But we want to stay family focused!” Says a recent post from the owners.
A menu will be released later down the road, but those dining in can expect breakfast staples like eggs and toast, along with brunch items such as sandwiches with sides. As it is French-inspired, this kind of cuisine will be served.
The breakfast and brunch spot is opening next to the Wayne County Clerk of Courts building in downtown. This is close to other restaurants like Basil Asian Bistro and The Retriever on Liberty. Wooster is not far from Orrville, where their MARR’s Cafe operates.
Construction is happening at the space, and more information on The Wooster Marquette can be found on their Facebook page.
