When McKinney diners relish the heat this summer, it won’t be coming from the sun but from a brand-new pizza oven. California-based chain Mountain Mike’s is bringing its distinctive pies to the region, and its opening is close enough to taste, reports Community Impact.

The pizzeria will be proving its dough at 4590 West University Drive, Suite 210. A Mountain Mike’s representative states that the restaurant will be opening its doors and serving up fresh slices in mid-July.

McKinney foodies have had some time to build up an appetite for the new concept; paperwork with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation states that construction began on the eatery on October 23 of last year and the project wrapped on December 30. Mountain Mike’s will have a designated 2,967 square feet to dole out its signature slices and pies.

While Mountain Mike’s may not yet be a household name in the DFW, the pizzeria is not a newcomer to the dining scene. The chain tossed its first pie in Palo Alto, California in 1978. Mountain Mike’s developed a fan-following through its pizzas, of course, which come in traditional varieties and a wide range of specialty styles. The website offers this insight into the brand’s mission: “With quality ingredients, bold flavors, and a passion for excellence, Mountain Mike’s isn’t just about pizza—it’s about creating legendary memories.”
